Karen Buckley

Karen Buckley

THE PLAINS- Karen Buckley, 61, of The Plains OH, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2023 at her home.  She was a dearly beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt who will be missed beyond description.  Born December 28, 1961, she was the daughter of Jerry L. Yates and the late Nancy Shields Cox.

She was a graduate of Athens High School and attended Hocking College in Nelsonville.

She married Chuck Buckley of Athens on December 31, 1979 and they started their family with their first born son, Derek, in December 1981.  Ryan was born in February 1984, Trace was born in March 1986, and Sean was born in January 1990.

Once the children were in school, Karen began working in the retail grocery industry and later became Manager of three different stores, eventually owning two of her own.  She had been retired, along with her husband, for several years.  This time was for them and was spent with their children, grandchildren and extended family.  Her love for her family and her family’s love for her was unequaled.  We will honor her by surviving and continuing, but we will be severely diminished by her absence.

Besides her husband and father, she is survived by her four sons, Derek (Val) Buckley of  London, OH, Ryan (Amanda) Buckley of  Nelsonville, OH, Trace Buckley of Athens, OH and Sean Buckley of The Plains, OH; and her dear sister, Fran Yates of The Plains OH; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special granddaughter, Lexi (born to Sean), a special needs child, who loved her Grandma beyond description.

Besides her Mother, she was preceded in death by her Step-Father, Roger Cox;  a Daughter-in-Law, Angie Buckley (Trace); a niece, Jennifer Buckley; three Brothers-in-Law, Kevin Brown (Fran), Marlon Buckley, and Chris Buckley.

There will be visiting hours for all family and friends on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Jagers & sons Funeral Home, Athens.  No formal services will be held, according to her wishes.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for expenses.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
