MILLFIELD- Barbara Sue Coulson Balch, age 76, of Millfield, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at her home. Born August 18, 1947 in McArthur, she was the daughter of the late John Coulson and Pauline Lightfoot Coulson.
She was a 1965 graduate of Chauncey Dover High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, and the Southeastern School of Nursing. She was a member of the Poston United Methodist Church where she served as lay leader, vocalist, pianist, and president of the Sonlight Workers Women’s Club.
She was a nurse and retired with the office of Doctors A&S Gawande of Athens. She enjoyed playing chair volleyball and winning several gold medals with Senior Beat and OhioHealth.
Barbara was the loving wife for 52 years of John W. Balch and mother of John Eric (Sandy) Balch; grandmother to Bridget Balch and great grandmother to Aspyn Balch. She is also survived by several brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice McDaniel and Helen Smith; and a brother, Roy Martin.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home with Christopher Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.
