THE PLAINS, Ohio ––– Beverly Susan Parker, 78, of Lancaster, passed away Monday June 30, 2025, at Hickory Creek in The Plains. Born November 14, 1946, in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Paul L. and Hilma H. Chalfant Barrett.
Susan retired from the Admissions Office at the Florida Gulf Coast University. Previously, she had been employed by Ohio University, GTE in Athens, and the Athens County Commissioners Office. She was a member of the Amesville Methodist Church and a former member of the Job’s Daughters through the Order of Eastern Stars Thea Chapter #192 in Trimble. She was a former majorette in the J.T. High School Band, where she also played the clarinet. Her love of music extended to playing the piano.
She is survived by two daughters, Shelley (Mike) Kistler of Lancaster and Shawna (David) Snodgrass of Marietta; grandchildren, Crystal (Devin) Rhinebarger, Corey (Jessica) Frost, Jessica (Eli) Spears, and Chris (Allie) Spears; great grandchildren, Madi, Alana, Mallory, Lexi, Ousman, and Mariama; a sister, Carol (Richard) Starlin of Amesville; a brother, Paul “Smoke” (Linda) Barrett of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Parker and a grandson, Timmy Spears.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday July 3, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. A visitation will take place on noon Thursday until the time of service.
