POMEROY- Carolyn McDaniel, 85, of Pomeroy, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2024, surrounded by her family. Carolyn was born on May 28, 1939 in Toone, TN to the late Manley and Hazel (Morris) Hazlegrove.
Carolyn was an active member of the Central Christian Church in Gallipolis, OH until her health started to decline. She then started attending church with her daughter Rochelle’s family and eventually became a member of the Belpre Church of Christ. Carolyn and her husband Bill were the owners of the Pomeroy Home and Auto.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, George W. “Bill” McDaniel as well as her daughters, Rochelle (Bill) Lawless and Roxanne (Sean O’Malley) McDaniel. Also left to cherish the memory of their Mommom are four grandchildren, Delana (Michael) Taylor, Cara (Joshua) Mason, Alex O’Malley, and Margot O’Malley. In addition, she was affectionately known as Big Mommom to her sweet great-grandchildren, Gideon and Naomi Taylor and Ari Mason. She dearly enjoyed her visits of giggles and hugs from them. Also surviving are a brother in law and sister in law, Paul and Charlene McDaniel.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, William and John; and her sister, Joan.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 21st at 3:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave. Athens, OH with her funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Derek Stump will officiate.
