Obituaries

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH. Burial will follow in the Torch Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday, from 5-7 P.M.

There will be a celebration of life for family and close friends at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.

Ronald Purves, 77, of Coolville, OH, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at Arcadia Nursing Center. There will be no visitation or funeral services.

Jim’s family will host viewing hours at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct.18th from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Follow by, next day Funeral services on Thursday, Oct 19th at 11AM. There will be a public ceremony at Lexington Shambhala Center (305 Maxwell St., Lexington, KY) on Saturday, October 21st at 3pm. Friends in Athens, Ohio will gather upstairs at Eclipse Company Store (11309 Jackson Dr., The Plains) on Wednesday at 5:30pm for an informal gathering in honor of his life. The family will receive visitors on Saturday October 14, 2023 from 12-3 at The West State St Park, Shelterhouse #1. (Field 1, South behind, W State St. Athens, Ohio. Past the concession stand, first parking lot on the right.) A spoken remembrance will be given at 1:00.

Graveside services will be Monday October 16, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Wells Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Stewart officiating.  Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home is handling services.
