Bonded pair: Novalee, female (1 year old), and Americus (kitten)
Novalee, the grey cat, was named after the movie Where the Heart Is (2000). In that film, a young woman named Novalee gives birth and briefly lives in Walmart after being abandoned—a fitting parallel to this stray mom who was raising her kittens at the Athens Walmart.
With persistence and support from Walmart employees, Novalee and her kittens were successfully trapped in April. Now there is only Novalee and her kitten, Americus, remaining to be adopted. They are a bonded pair.
