David (Ducky) Morton Duckworth Jr., 68, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. in Lancaster, Ohio.
David was born October 6, 1955, in Nelsonville. He was formerly from Nelsonville. He retired from Lowes, but had been working part time at Menard’s of Athens. David’s passion was breeding and raising different types of snakes, and also enjoyed raising other types of animals.
David attended and graduated from Nelsonville High School. He joined the Army and was an Army Ranger, stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Ft. Campbell, KY., and
other places. He was in the 101st. Airborne Infantry Division.
David is survived by his daughter, Tabatha (Justin) Geary of New Concord, OH. and a son John Duckworth (Keri Walker) of Pataskala, OH. He is also survived by a sister Linda (Charlie) McKibben of McArthur, and brother Terry (Melanie) Duckworth of Dayton, OH. Also, many nieces, nephews cousins and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his fiancé Suzi Downs, his parents Dave and Julia Duckworth, brothers Donald and Joe Bullock and sister Julia Ahle.
A very special Thank You to Fairhope Hospice, Pickering House, of Lancaster, for the compassionate care and love they showed David while he was there.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., at Zaleski Freewill Baptist Church in Zaleski, OH., with Pastor Mark Rood officiating. Pastor Mark had prayed with David and he had given his heart to the Lord. David’s wishes were to be cremated. The Military Honor Guard of McArthur will have memorial services at the church.
