David F. Carter

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday September 11, 2023, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Glouster with Fr. Jeremiah Hahn officiating. Interment will be in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Trimble where there will be a military graveside service conducted by the United States Navy and the Combined Color Guard Unit.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. 

David F. Carter, 84 of Glouster passed away Tuesday September 5, 2023, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.  Born August 28, 1939, in Athens County, he was the son of the late John F. and Elizabeth Chaulkey Carter.  He was a 1958 graduate of Glouster High School and a Navy veteran.  David retired from AEP, Meigs Mine #31.  He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and Murray City American Legion Post #420, was inducted into the Trimble Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021 and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, listening to music and dancing with his wife, Norma in their younger years.  

He is survived by two sons, Terry (Gina) Carter and Kevin Carter; a daughter, Debbie (Dale) Gullett; grandchildren, Dale Jr. (Hannah), Austin, Madison, Elias, Kira, Bailey, Brianna, and Gabriella Gullett, Zach, Christian, Michael and Joseph Carter, Chelsea McLaughlin, Brayton Hazen, and Haley Williams; great grandchildren, Jonah and Parker Gullett, Ashlynn McLaughlin, and Grayson Williams; a brother, Mike (Kay) Carter; a sister, Mary Hillyer; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bentz, Mary Jo Bycofski, and Pauline Trace; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bee Gee.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. Carter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Elizabeth Roback; brothers-in-law, Richard Bentz, Robert Trace, Gene Hillyer, Dave Moleski, and Larry Bycofski.
