Delbert V. Skinner Jr., 70 of Millfield passed away Sunday March 10, 2024, at his residence. Born December 3, 1953, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Delbert V. and Naomi Shifflet Skinner. He was an army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Glouster American Legion, Glouster Moose, Jacksonville V.F.W., and the V.F.W. Ohio Riders. Delbert was passionate about racing and considered himself a NASCAR enthusiast. He was also an avid football fan, especially Ohio State.
He is survived by the love of his life, June Triplett; step daughters, Christy (Raymond) Kasler and Sherry Triplett, both of Nelsonville; daughters, Patricia (Croy) Harris of Amesville, Lindsey Householder of Chauncey, and Amanda (Bobby) Stobart; a son, Anthony (Linda) Skinner of Glouster; grandchildren, Hanna Shaffer who was raised in the home, Rebekah Skinner (Gabriel), Ashton Kasler, Jacob (Faith) Skinner, Jesse Skinner, Kyra Skinner, Sarah Skinner, Victoria and Vanessa Harris; several great grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Sharon) Skinner of Indiana, Ernie (Patty) Skinner of Glouster, William (Pam) Skinner of North Carolina, and John (Barbara) Skinner of New Marshfield; sisters, Diana (Tom) Kirkbride of Glouster, Audrey (Mike) Gale of Cardington, Ohio, and Mary McGrew of Glouster; a special daughter-in-law, Beth Skinner; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Toby and Jason Skinner; a stepdaughter, Neosha Andrews; an infant granddaughter, Amber Nichole Maffin; and a sister, Julia Ann.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday March 15, 2024, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Jon Hanning officiating. Interment will be in the Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield where there will be a military graveside service conducted by the United States Army and the Combined Color Guard Unit. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to Morrison Funeral Chapel to assist with final expenses.
