Dennis Scott Whitlatch, 66, of Athens, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Overbrook Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 10, 1958, in Nelsonville, son of the late Norma Talbert Hammond of Athens and the late Billie Whitlatch of The Plains.
Dennis retired from Ohio University after 30 years of employment. He also spent over 30 years refereeing youth sports across Southeast Ohio.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Cooksey of The Plains, Ohio; daughter, Amanda (Ted) Schwieterman of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons Dan Whitlatch of Phoenix, Arizona, Nathan Whitlatch of Amanda, Ohio, and Travis Whitlatch of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: Saelem, Lucy, Jackson, Miles, Ella, and Lawson; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Talbert Hammond; father, Billie Whitlatch; step-father, Lewis Hammond; niece, Ashley Whitlatch; and brother-in-law, Dick Cooksey.
Dennis donated his body to the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Body Donor Program for the purpose of education and research.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
