Meet Elsa Marie, a 10-ish-year-old Hound mix who is looking for a second chance. Elsa came to us eight months ago heartbroken after her owner passed away. She had been living alone in her home for some time, with family stopping by to deliver food. When strangers finally came to take her away, she panicked. Her first days at the shelter were hard on her, with only a small circle of volunteers handling her. But slowly, coaxed by patient volunteers and string cheese, a friendlier, lovable, dare we say sassier, Elsa has emerged. Now, her circle has grown and volunteers adore her. She’s the wise matron of the shelter, helping the less confident dogs find their way. But she has no time for pushy or overbearing pups. At this stage in her life, she would do best in a home with adults who can give Elsa the space she needs to relax, eat cheese, and call the shots. We also think she will do well with cats. In return, Elsa will walk well on the leash and be the steadiest companion. Looking for a resilient senior dog to steal your heart? Elsa is the one.
