Although Mabel is her shelter name, we have since learned that her real name is Ruby. And she sure answers to it! Ruby came into the shelter when her elderly owners were no longer able to care for her.
Ruby is your typical senior hunting dog–she is incredibly sweet and loves going for walks. She is missing vision in one idea due to an injury, but it doesn’t slow her down. Ruby is lucky to be in a wonderful foster home where she is discovering the comforts of indoor life. She loves beds! Ruby is learning about house training and is proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Ruby is currently available for adoption through the Athens County Dog Shelter.
Please call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Mabel/Ruby.
If you cannot adopt, please consider fostering. You can fill out a foster application at: https://www.fosdathens.com/foster
