Dog of the Week: Wilson

10-19-25, neutered boxer/terrier mx, ~2yo, 56#, FOUND on E. State St, Athens.

Meet Wilson, AKA the Taco Bell dog.  The Shelter came to know Wilson as a stray who was able to get many a meal from Athens locals frequenting the Taco Bell on State St. When Shelter staff couldn’t catch him, they left traps, but Wilson skillfully avoided them. During this period, a volunteer dedicated to catching him named him after Wilson, the volleyball in the movie Cast Away. We all need connection to others and we knew Wilson was not different. Finally, after seven months of brainstorming and patience, Wilson was brought to the shelter, where he instantly became a favorite among staff and volunteers.  He’s a 2 year old Boxer/Terrier mix that loves to cuddle and play with a buddy. Wilson’s adopter must have another dog in their household and a fenced in yard. If you’re ready to be showered in kisses by this incredible dog, please give the shelter a call at 740-593-5415.  If you can’t adopt, you can apply to foster Wilson at  https://www.fosdathens.com/foster.

If you want to be a part of Wilson’s story, please give the Athens County Dog Shelter a call at 740-593-5415. If you can’t adopt, you can apply to foster at https://www.fosdathens.com/foster
