ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – The Athens-Hocking Solid Waste District (AHSWD) will be hosting two fall Recycling Days in October in two locations in Hocking and Athens Counties.
Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, Athens County Fairgrounds, 286 W. Union St. Athens, Ohio
Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, Hocking County Fairgrounds, 100 N. Homer Ave. Logan, Ohio
The events will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
These events are for residents of Athens and Hocking Counties. As in the past, the event will be for collecting appliances, E-waste, cell phones, household goods, clothing, scrap metal, mattresses, books and batteries. The Solid Waste District will be charging a fee for recycling TVs ($20-$40.00/TV) and fluorescent tubes and compact bulbs at 50 cents each with only cash or checks accepted. We will also have trash trucks for those items that are not able to be reused or recycled.
No household hazardous waste or tires will be accepted.
“Our staff and volunteers will assist Athens and Hocking County residents to safely dispose of items so they can be reused or recycled. These bi-annual events are supported through a grant from the Ohio EPA Recycle Grant,” said Jane Forrest Redfern, AHSWD Director.
The District’s partners include Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Rural Action, Rumpke, Athens Township, and McKee’s Auto Parts.
