ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio –– The National Weather Service at 11:18 a.m. Friday, July 18 issued a flood watch for Athens County until Saturday, July 19, at 2 a.m.
Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible through late tonight. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms over areas of saturated ground will lead to the possibility of flash flooding. Most areas will see 0.5 to 1.5 inches with some areas receiving in excess of 3 inches.
