James Larry Woltz, 79, of Londonderry, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at his residence. He was born August 12, 1943, in Ray, Ohio, son of the late Lida Irene Woltz Burnheimer. James was married to Sharon Lee Smith Woltz, who survives.
He retired after 34 years from Sears in Chillicothe and was a 45-year volunteer for the Harrison Township Fire Department. James graduated from Allensville High School in 1961 and was a lifetime member of the Eagles in Chillicothe. He was an avid outdoorsman who also enjoyed working on lawn mowers and gardening.
James is survived by his son, Brian (Alice Lowery) Woltz of Ray; daughter, Pamela (Martin) Graves of Londonderry; grandchildren Jonathon (Amanda) Woltz, Derek (Erin) Woltz, Ashley (Clay) Morris, James-Andrew Swaim, Beth (Kerry) Mickel, Courtney (Caleb Hopkins) Graves and Angela Graves; 17 great-grandchildren; brother Michael (Patti) Burnheimer of Kingston; sisters Verna Denney of California, Sharon (Charles) Fast of Laurelville and Donna (Robert) Diehl of Circleville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Raymond Burnheimer and grandparents, Goldie and Eli Woltz.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor William Mason officiating. Interment will be in Boblett Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the service.
