James R. Cartwright, 76, of Rockbridge Ohio, passed away Monday August 19, 2024, at the Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan. Born September 1, 1947, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Ada (Keirns) Cartwright. He graduated from Glouster High School and Columbus Drafting College, and he served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. James was employed by the Civil Engineering Departments of Columbia Gas of Ohio and Columbia Gas Transmission for 35 years. He attended Hocking Hills Church of Christ in Logan and was a volunteer with the Hocking County Honor Guard Unit.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patsy (Antle) Cartwright of Rockbridge; a daughter, Nicole (Jesse) Kwiek of Worthington; a son, Nicholas (Whitney) Cartwright of Dublin; two grandchildren, Oscar and Ada Kwiek; a brother, Robert (Sue) Cartwright of Nevada, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Cartwright, and a brother, William “Bill” Cartwright.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday August 23, 2024, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster with a military graveside service conducted by the United States Army and the Combined Color Guard Unit. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
