Jane M. Eddy

ATHENS – Jane M. Eddy, 69, of Athens, passed away peacefully at her beloved homestead and family farm in Ames Township on Monday, August 19, 2024. Born on March 5, 1955, in Athens, she was the cherished daughter of the late Jack P. Eddy and O. Virginia Glazier Eddy.

A proud graduate of Federal Hocking High School’s Class of 1973, Jane earned her bachelor’s degree from Marietta College and her master’s degree in counseling from Ohio University. Her teaching career began at Vinton County High School, where she shared her passion for music. She later dedicated nearly two decades as a guidance counselor at Federal Hocking High School, retiring in 2012.

Jane loved bowling with friends, cheering on OSU basketball, and losing herself in a good book. A devoted animal lover, Jane cared deeply for her many cats and boxer dogs over the years, ensuring they had the very best of care.

Friends remember Jane for her kindness, fun-loving spirit, and generosity. She played a key role as the treasurer of the Henry Family Reunion, a tradition in the Amesville community for well over 100 years. Jane was also proud to be the seventh generation of the Glazier family to call Ames Township home.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jennifer Eddy of Xenia; her niece, Olivia Eddy of Xenia; several cousins; and many lifelong, close friends. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Mark Eddy.

A private family graveside service will be held at Amesville (Mud Sock) Cemetery on Saturday, August 24. A public celebration of Jane’s life will take place that same day at 4:30 p.m. at The Eclipse Company Store, 11309 Jackson Drive, The Plains.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Athens County Humane Society, PO Box 765, Athens, OH 45701. Please share your memories, condolences, or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com

Jane will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
