ATHENS- Jeffrey W. Brooks, age 65, of Athens, passed away Tuesday evening, July 9, 2024 a OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born Oct. 3, 1958 in Athens, he was the son of the late Leslie S. Brooks and Lena R. Dickerson Brooks.
A 1977 graduate of Athens High School, he was employed at McBee’s Corporation for 27 years, Helicopter Minuteman and recently retired from Heiner’s (Bimbos) Bakery. He was a lifelong Athens resident. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting and football, but his biggest joy was taking care of his family.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ann Fugate Brooks; two daughters, Jennifer (Jason Wallace) Brooks of Logan and Erin (Harley) Brooks Smith of Logan; six grandchildren, Matthew Pinney, Jacob Pinney, Allyson Pinney, Averi Pinney, Benjamin Brooks-Smith and Sawyer Brooks Smith; two sisters, Rebecca (Dennis) Salisbury of Gallipolis and Patricia (George) Cain of Athens; a brother, Tony Brooks of Athens; and a sister in law, Melinda Brooks of Pataskala; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Brooks. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 14 from 2:00- 4:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. A gathering will be held at the Ohio University Inn following visitation at the funeral home.
