
GLOUSTER, Ohio –– Joan Lou Holmes of Glouster passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at her residence.
Born October 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Lucille Palmer Jenkins. She was a member of the Bread of Life Church in Jacksonville. Joan enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, and visits from her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Kathy) Holmes of St. Louisville, Ohio and David (Billie) Holmes of Glouster; grandsons, Luke (Brianna) Holmes, Phillip (Hannah) Holmes, Arthur McCown, and Joshua McCown; a granddaughter, Calie Vore; great grandchildren, Brynley Holmes, Amelia Holmes, Alana Holmes, Addie Hurban, Ella Hurban, Brooklyn (Dakota) Smathers, Briana Orsborne, Tucker Dixon, Isaiah McCown, Macy, Marissa and Miles Vore.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett “Hop-Hi” Holmes Junior; a grandson, David M. Holmes Jr.; brothers, Robert, William, and Paul Jenkins; and a sister, Karen (Jenkins) Washington.
A visitation for family and friends will take place Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bread of Life Church in Jacksonville with a eulogy by Pastor Ron Fierce beginning at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.
