ATHENS, Ohio — JoAnn K. Conley, 72, of Athens died Tuesday morning, July 25, 2023, at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born Nov. 6, 1950, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur H. Ruth and Vera Douglas Ruth.
She attended Albany High School. She owned and operated the Ice House Tavern in Nelsonville for over 33 years. Her greatest joy in life was providing and caring for her children and grandchildren.
JoAnn is survived by two daughters, Wendy Wallace of Athens and Tracy (Donald) Russell of
Athens; five grandchildren, Alison Russell, Tyler Russell, Beth (Skylar) Kirkendall, Tara (Ben) Lingo and Katelyn (Patrick) Day; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Sheila “Becky” Bridgewater of Athens; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Wallace, who passed away March 20, 2023; two sisters, Leona Hunting and Letha Russell; and three brothers, Roy, Charles and Gene Ruth.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be in Bates Cemetery, Alexander Township.
