John R. Stobart, 65, of Glouster passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born February 27, 1958, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Rev. William Clair and Thelma L. Dunfee Stobart.
He was the owner and operator of J. Stobart Trucking. John was a hard worker who never met a stranger and enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda L. Smith Stobart of Glouster; a daughter, Monica M. Stobart of Glouster; a son, John D. (Chelsey) Stobart of Glouster; five grandchildren, McKenzie, Tayeler, Owen, Harper, and Bristyl; two brothers, Martin (A.E.) Stobart of Indiana and Paul (Theresa) Stobart of Millfield; six sisters, Wanda, Mary, Donna, Nancy, Roberta and Paula; a special nephew, Jim Bob, and several other nieces and nephews; special friends Tim and Mark and Sonny Cain, whom he thought of as a son; and numerous other friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kruz Stobart; three brothers, Donald, Clair Jr., and Rick; and a sister, Freda.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Bishopville Church of Christ. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morrison Funeral Chapel.
