ATHENS- Lela “Leddie” Hester Parsons Butcher, 90, of Athens, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at The Laurels of Athens. She was born on April 5,1934, in Bebee, Ohio, Athens County, to the late Raymond Joseph and Ruetta Parsons.
Leddie was a devoted wife to her late husband, William Samuel Butcher, for 50 years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael William, and her sisters: Clerina (Pete) Harris, Wanda (Conrad) Hill, Emma (Romanus} Mayle, Mildred (Nathan} Mayle, and Ada {Donald) Croston.
She is survived by her sons, Joe (Rosemary) Butcher and Christopher Butcher of Athens, daughter-in-law Rebecca Butcher of Port Clinton, two grandsons, lan and Tyler Butcher, and three granddaughters, Gillian Casados, Katelyn Good, and Iris Butcher. As well as six great-grandchildren.
Leddie attended Rome Canaan High School. She was a dedicated member of her church, where she served as the youth choir director, Sunday school teacher, and song leader. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith and her selfless commitment to her family and church.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 30th at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31st at 2:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens officiated by Monty Hurst and John Butcher.
