GLOUSTER, Ohio — Lewis Jennice, 74 of Hooper Ridge Road, Glouster, passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2023. Born September 4, 1948, in Glouster, he was the son of the late Albert and Wahnetta Vermaaten Jennice.
He was a 1967 graduate of Glouster High School. He served two years in the U.S. Navy after graduation during the Vietnam conflict. Lewis was a member of the American Legion Post 414 of Glouster. In the 1980s he served as a Tiger Cub Leader for the Cub Scouts. Lewis enjoyed watching Ohio State, Cincinnati, and Trimble football.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Greta Dupler Jennice; two sons, Anthony (Brandi) Jennice of Pataskala and Dustin (Valerie) Jennice of Logan; grandchildren Maelyn, Katelyn, Isaac, Noah, Eli, and Tobias; a brother Jim (Romona) Jennice; a sister, Mary Jennice; an uncle, Bob Vermaaten; brothers-in-law, Douglas (Pam) Dupler of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Phil Evans of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Angela (Terry) Welch of Cutler; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rebecca Sue Jennice, and a sister-in-law, Nadine Evans.
The family would like to thank OhioHealth Hospice; Larissa and Janet; his weekly visitor, Bob; and other staff members for all of their care during Lewis’ illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Jon Hanning officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, where there will be a military graveside service conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit and the U.S. Navy.
