Lola Mae Kramer Lackey

Lola Mae Kramer Lackey

STEWART- Lola Mae Kramer Lackey, 93, of Stewart, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 25, 2024.

Lola Mae was born on March 29, 1931, in Washington County, Ohio. After graduating from Canal Winchester High School, she attended The Grant School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio.

In July 1952, Lola Mae married the love of her life, Glenn Francis Lackey. Together, they raised four children: Glenn Kramer (Bonnie) Lackey, Beckey (Brian) Mansfield, Brian (Kathy) Lackey, and Keith (Therese) Lackey. She was the proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Brittany (Jason) Jarvis, Kristin (Josh) Carr, Brandon (Bethany) Lackey, Brianna (Matt) Edwards, Brooke (Jared) Thompson, Mackenzie (Chris) Childers, Kelsey (John) Becker, Leah (Shawn) Work, Levi (Jennifer) Lackey, Bethany (Zach) Wires, Kavon (Emily) Lackey, Brielle (Jonas) Clark, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Lola Mae was preceded in death by her biological parents, Alpha and Ned Simpson; her adopted parents, Aura and Leroy Kramer; her beloved husband, Glenn Lackey; her sisters, Juanita Knight and Wanda (Raymond) Reinhard; her brothers, Rooney (Esther) Simpson, Ned (Mildred) Simpson, and Howard (Rose) Simpson; a brother-in-law Alan (Esther Jean) Lackey; and special friend, Jim Quinn.

Lola Mae had many names – Mom, Aunt Lola, Grandma Lackey, Granny Grunt, and Roommate – but no matter the name, the love you felt for her and from her was immense. She spent her life in service, always taking care of those around her. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Many of her family’s best traits (fierce loyalty, commitment to faith and family) and talents (pie baking, canning) came from Lola Mae. She loved nothing more than cooking a meal and being present for her family.

She was a devoted member of the Canaanville United Methodist Church, an avid Lancer fan to all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sports, and a committed supporter of agriculture. Lola Mae was a once in a lifetime type of matriarch – her impact will be felt for generations.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday August 30th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home in Athens, OH. The burial will take place at Canaanville Cemetery, followed by a 4:00 PM celebration of life at the Lackey Family Cabin and Pond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canaanville United Methodist Church.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
