ATHENS –– Mackenzie ‘Mac’ Lee Kasler was born on April 1, 1993, in Athens, Ohio, and passed away in his home on September 3, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Mac leaves behind his mother Andrea, father Dana, and his biggest supporter, his sister Madison, all of Ft. Myers, Florida. He also leaves behind two grandmothers, Helen Kasler of Athens, and Evelyn Schurman of Cranberry, Pennsylvania, along with beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Roger Kasler of Athens; his great grandparents Arthur and Eula Kasler of Athens, and Victoria and Frank Jones of Okeechobe, FL; his grandfather Henry ‘Sonny’ Schurman of Sewickley, PA; great grandparents Theresa and Lincoln Archer of Parkersburg, WV, and Margaret Thompson of Salt Lake City, Utah; and two uncles, Micheal Archer of San Jose, California, and Darryl Schurman of Sewickley, PA.
He loved his dog Sophia and his best buddy, his cat Tiger, that he found as a kitten in the rain. His passion was making music at home, in the studio and on the stage, he wrote over 200 songs. Mac could always put a smile on your face. He always had a story to tell that would make you laugh, sometimes not on purpose. One of his proudest things was his last name because of his feelings for his grandparents and great-grandparents. He will see all those family, friends and musicians that preceded his passing he desperately loved. His family will always remember his loving, kind heart and may he rest in peace with loud music!
Private family services will be held at West Union St. Cemetery, Athens, with Rev. Rick Seiter officiation. Local arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. In lieu of flowers please send donations to savethemusic.org, musical resources for children. Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
