ATHENS — Martha Louise Bail, 83, of Athens, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born Dec. 28, 1939, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late William Finnearty and Ethel Martin Finnearty.
A graduate of The Plains High School, she was a homemaker in the family home. She enjoyed keeping house, her family, shopping, redecorating, and feeding and watching the squirrels, birds and deer.
Martha is survived by her husband of 66 years, Frank Bail; her daughter, Dianna (Chuck) Hunter of Athens; her son, Tim (Jane) Bail of Athens; a son-in-law, Blaine Gabriel of Athens; nine grandchildren, Michael (Monica Dotson) Bail of The Plains, Mathew (Emily) Hunter of Indianapolis, IN, Eric (Misty) Gabriel of Winston Salem, NC, Shawn (Rachel) Bail of New Marshfield, Molly (Elizabeth Jenkins) Bail of Columbus, Nicole (Tom) Waltz of Brighton, CO, Chelsea (Kevin) Thompson of Las Vegas, NV, Trent (Emily McKee) Gabriel of Athens and Frank (Brice) Bail of Albany; several great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a sister, Lenora Champlin.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jerry Brent Bail; her daughter, Tamera Gabriel; many siblings; and her father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Lucille Bail.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with April Murphy officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may call 6–8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alexander Local School District in Tammy Gabriel’s name to assist students with cafeteria account balances.
