NELSONVILLE, Ohio –– The Nelsonville Division of Fire wants to alert the public that there will be shoring and stabilization operations occurring at The Mine Tavern, located at 14 Public Square, Wednesday, Feb. 18. The property owner is bringing in a specialized contractor to attempt to stabilize the partially collapsed building. They do not have an exact time the contractor will arrive on site. The Nelsonville Division of Fire will be onsite while the contractor is working.
As of Wednesday, Feb. 18, the east side of Nelsonville’s Public Square remains closed and barricaded to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic from the Dew House to the end of Rhapsody restaurant until further notice, as a result of a partial structure collapse at The Mine Tavern. Please avoid this area and use an alternative route. Further updates will be released as information becomes available.
