Charlie Wilson

ATHENS, Ohio – Charles “Charlie” David Wilson, 75, of Athens died April 8, 2026, at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born December 6, 1950, in Toledo, he was the son of the late Charles Wilson and Ruth Bowers Wilson.

A graduate of Ida (Michigan) High School, he attended University of Toledo and Hocking Technical College. He was a former employee of General Motors in Toledo and retired from Ohio University. He started his employment at O.U. as a custodian and retired as Assistant Director of Lab Animal Resources.

He enjoyed fishing, nature, bird watching and photography, especially wildlife photography. He and his wife were former members of the Toledo Naturalist Camera Club. Music played a huge part of his life and he was especially fond of the blues.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and the Korean DMZ, serving with the 101st Airborne Division.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judith “Judy” Kadzialka Wilson; a son, Charles Cameron “CC” Wilson; and a sister, Carolyn Baker of Petersburg, Michigan, along with numerous nieces & nephews.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Downes.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering 1–3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., Athens, Ohio 45701. Following the gathering, a celebration of life will be held at K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, 520 W. Union St., Athens, Ohio 45701. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Athens Conservancy, Rural Action of Athens County, National Audubon Society, or Wounded Warriors.
