JACKSONVILLE, Ohio – Flora K. “Flo” North, 83, passed away Wednesday September 16, 2026, at her daughter’s residence in Jacksonville.
Born November 23, 1942, in Newark, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ralph L. and Beulah B. Russell North.
She graduated from Glouster High School and later served for several years as Director of Head Start in Murray City. She also worked for several years as a bartender at the Wayside Inn Bar and Grill in Buchtel and formerly owned and operated the Home of the Star Restaurant and Bar in The Plains. She was a member of the Bishopville Church of Christ.
Flo was an avid reader who enjoyed crocheting, and she especially loved Christmas, her favorite time of year.
She is survived by sons, James Bragg of Albany and Bill (Amy) Bragg of Malta; daughters, Janice (John) Smathers of Jacksonville and Sheila Hopkins of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a cousin, Jackie Taylor; a friend, Bea Collins; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles “Timmie” Drake II; and sisters, Janet, Myra, Diania, and Sue.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the care team at OhioHealth Hospice, with special appreciation for her aide, Marissa Lenigar.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday September 21, 2026, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Zachary Bragg and Kevin Stalder officiating. Interment will be in the Hollister Cemetery. A visitation will take place on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
