GLOUSTER, Ohio –– Judith Ann (Hashman) Vaught, 78, of Glouster, passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on October 23, 1946, the daughter of the late Marjorie Jenkins and Charles Sams.
Judith’s kindness was unmatched, and she had a deep love and unwavering dedication to her family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strength, and the way she touched the lives of all who knew her.
Judith devoted many years of her life working as a teacher’s assistant, where she shared her patience, compassion, and encouragement with countless children. She also gave her time and talents to the Kids on Campus Summer Program, where she created lasting memories for the children she worked with.
She leaves behind five children: Larry Hashman Jr. (Tammy) and Shelley Hashman, both of Glouster, Ohio; Garry Hashman (Brandy) of High Pointe, North Carolina; Sherrie Hashman Wrenn (James) of Trenton, Tennessee; and Bobbie Hashman (Angela) of Bainbridge Island, Washington. She is also survived by a sister, Marven Chilcote, and a brother, Charles Sams Jr., both of Nelsonville; son-in-law, Jim Balcm and daughter-in-law Sonja Morrow. Judith’s legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who were her greatest joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Larry Hashman Sr.; her second husband, Jerry Vaught; her brother, James Sams and sister Mendy Sams; and two children, Susan and Jerry Hashman.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Rev. Elijah Brooks officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery, Portersville. A visitation will take place 11 a.m. Friday until the time of service. A family reception will be held at the Bishopville Church of Christ, 6555 State Route 78, Glouster, Ohio 45732 following the burial.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
