ATHENS, Ohio – Terry L. Spears, 63, of Athens, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Born September 8, 1962 in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Harold and Mable Charlene Nutt Spears. Terry was an auto mechanic. He enjoyed riding horses and hunting, with a particular fondness for deer hunting.
He is survived by sons, Harold Joseph Spears Sr. and Gary (Micaela) Giffin; a daughter, Paula Giffin; a grandson, Harold Joseph Spears Jr.; a brother, Delmer (Connie) Spears; a sister, Rose Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Luerna Giffin Spears; a brother, Harold “Junior” Spears; two sisters, Betty Atkins and Virginia “Buttons” Spears.
A cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
