BISHOPVILLE, Ohio — It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Thomas Orland Joyce III of Bishopville on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, pawpaw, and friend. A true family man. He filled our lives with laughter, pride, warmth, and love. He proudly served his country as a veteran. Many of our favorite memories were around a table full of playing cards, where his quick wit and quiet grin kept us smiling. Tom definitely did not know a stranger. You could count on him being out on the river with Big Bubba in his hand. He loved the outdoors deeply, spending countless days hunting and fishing. Sundays in the fall were reserved for watching the Browns. His lessons, laughter, jokes and legacy will live on in every life he touched. He was the former owner and operator of Tom and Penny’s grocery store in Carbon Hill. He was a member of the Jacksonville Eagles and Jacksonville VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Penny E. Bullock Joyce of Bishopville; a daughter, Tracy (Mike) Harper of Glouster; a son, Scott (Sara) Joyce of Bishopville; grandchildren Michael (Alania) Harper, Coltan Joyce, Hanna (Bernie) Roell, Emily (A.J.) Marks, Ian Joyce, Kyle Nutter, and Zach Nutter; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Judy Warix of Carbonhill.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Nutter.
Cremation has taken place, and no services will be observed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. A message of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting his tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com.
