Thomas Wesley Burson

THE PLAINS, Ohio – Thomas Wesley Burson, 45, of The Plains, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, at Adena Medical Center, Chillicothe, after a motorcycle accident. Born in Gallipolis on August 2, 1981, he is the son of Mark O. Burson and Jeanie Roush Burson of The Plains.

He was a graduate of Meigs High School and attended Hocking College. He was employed as a construction supervisor for Maztech Fiber Optics Company. He enjoyed golf and motorcycles.

Tom is survived by his longtime companion, Opal Whitlatch; a son Joziah Whitlatch of Racine; three step children, Jose Whtlatch, Bradley Bonecutter, and Kloey Bonecutter; three grandchildren, Logan Bonecutter, Baylor Whitlatch, and Haze Whitlatch; his grandmother, Jeanne Kelly, of Seminole, Fla.; a sister, Bobbie Jeanne (Eric Doster) Burson of Alabama; several aunts and uncles; two nieces, Luna Doster and Lydia Doster; a nephew, Aiden Doster; and a great niece, Melodi Ciampini.

He is preceded in death by a grandchild, Lyric Whitlatch; his grandparents, Thomas and Dorothy Roush; three aunts, Pamela Burson, Judith Laudermilk and Dottie Sizemore; and an uncle, Thomas Roush.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Steve Tomac officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
