COLUMBUS, North Carolina –– Virginia (Jinny) Ann Zoll Mathews, 94, of Columbus, North Carolina, died Monday, November 10, 2025 at Tryon Estates in Columbus, NC.
Born May 3, 1931 in Ravenna, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Zolland and Eveyln Botkin Zoll.
Jinny met her husband Richard (Dick) Mathews while attending Ohio University and they married in 1952. They ran the family business, Mathews Goodyear, and raised their family in Athens, then retired to North Carolina in 1982. Jinny loved books and read constantly. She also enjoyed crafts, especially knitting and basket weaving.
She is survived by her son Eric (Sally) Mathews of Loudon, TN and daughter, Colleen Mathews of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Krista (Eric) Holmes, Brad Mathews and Kevin Mathews and six great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, as well as her sister, Janet Zoll Berge and her husband Torrey Berge.
Arrangements are pending with Sanders Funeral Home in Columbus, NC.
