ATHENS, Ohio – Paul “PT” Thomas Farley died Thursday, September 17, 2026, at The Laurels of Athens. Born January 2, 1928, in Athens, he was the son of the late John T. Farley and Bertine Everett Farley.
He was a graduate of Athens High School and Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He retired from Ohio University where he was the Director of Utilities Maintenance and Energy Management. He operated the Wash-A-Teria on University Terrace for many years. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Athens City Fire Department for 14 years.
PT Was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, a 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians (Irish) and Symposiarch. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1949 to 1950 where he assisted in the operation of the ENIAC computer, the world’s first programable, general purpose electronic digital computer.
PT is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, corner of College and Mill streets, Athens with Father Jeremiah Hahn as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday 5-7 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Military Rites will be conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion and VFW Post 9896 Honor Guards at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
