STEWART, Ohio — The Federal Valley Resource Center is now home to “Fort Gower” a mural painting by Stewart artist Charles Byron.

Fort Gower was located in Hockingport and is notable for the creation of the Fort Gower Resolves, a pre-revolutionary war document where colonial soldiers declared that they would be willing fight the British to defend their rights.

In addition to the mural unveiling, the event also featured an original song by Stewart musician Bruce Dalzell. Tom O’Grady, the director of development for the Southeast Ohio History Center, gave a presentation on the events leading up to the Fort Gower Resolves and its subsequent influence on American history.
