ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – Athens and Hocking County will hold Hazardous Waste Disposal Day:

Saturday, July 18, 2026
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

5991 Industrial Drive
(Off Poston Road outside of The Plains)

For all residents of the Athens-Hocking Solid Waste District.

  • Antifreeze
  • Bleach
  • Brake Fluid
  • Insect Killers
  • Mercury
  • Rat Poison
  • Transmission Fluid
  • Weed Killers

Corrosives

  • Acids & Caustics
  • Car Batteries
  • Drain Cleaners
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Household Batteries (Dry cell, Ni-cad cell)

Flammables

  • Adhesives
  • Flares
  • Gasoline
  • Kerosene
  • Latex Paint
  • Lighter Fluid
  • Motor Oil & Filters
  • Oil-based Paint
  • Propane Cylinders (20 lb. max)
  • Turpentine

Reactive Materials

  • Cyanide

Additional Restrictions

  • Six 5-gallon containers per vehicle limit
  • No containers larger than 5 gallons
  • No bagged dry materials over 50 lbs.
  • No drums
  • Business/commercial waste not accepted
  • Do not mix materials
  • No household recycling or shredding
  • No books, appliances, or electronics
