ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – At the August 12, 2026 Board meeting the members of the Board voted to make the following  changes to Athens County Polling Locations starting for November 3, 2026 General Election.

Polling Location Changes

• Precincts Nelsonville 1, Nelsonville 2, Nelsonville 3, Nelsonville 4 and York Township that were at Ohio Means Jobs – Athens County (formerly Athens County Community Cares  Resource Center) located at 10 West Washington Street, Nelsonville, OH 45764 have been  MOVED to Nelsonville-York City Schools located at 2 Buckeye Drive, Nelsonville, OH  45764.

• Precinct Buchtel Village that was at The Village Church Polling Location located at 17890  North Akron Avenue, Buchtel, OH 45716 has been MOVED to Nelsonville-York City  Schools located at 2 Buckeye Drive, Nelsonville, OH 45764.

Reasons for these changes are

• Ohio Means Jobs – Athens County (formerly ACCCRC) building is listed for sale and  we were notified by the owner that they expect for the building to be sold.

• Due to Americans with Disabilities Act requirements Nelsonville-York City Schools  facility was the only location to meet ADA criteria and polling location needs.

• The Village Church is less than 1 mile from Nelsonville-York City Schools.

Notices have been mailed out to all registered voters in these precincts/polling locations giving them  the needed information regarding the changes that apply to them specifically.

We want the public to know that we DO NOT take moving a polling location lightly. A lot of thought, consideration and planning go into making these decisions when they have to be made. We  understand that change is hard and inconvenient most of the time. Our staff and board always keep our voters’ best interests in mind when we must make any changes.

We want to also remind voters that there are still multiple ways to vote in every election, such as  Early In-Person voting at the Board of Elections (schedule will be posted before each election for the  hours), absentee by mail (applications are currently being accepted) or you can go to your polling  location and vote on Election Day.

Voters may check their voter registration, precinct and polling location on our website here.
