ATHENS, Ohio – The League of Women Voters of Athens County is hosting a Town Hall meeting regarding the Athens City proposed income tax levy at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at the Athens Community Center, rooms A & B. Athens City Mayor Steve Patterson, City Council Representative Jessica Thomas, City Auditor Kathy Hecht and City Treasurer Josh Thomas will participate.
The public is invited to submit questions to athenscountyasks@gmail.com prior to the event. Questions must be related to the proposed levy and be received at least 24 hours prior to the event. Questions will also be taken in person.
The proposed levy is an income tax (additional – 0.2%, commencing 1/1/2027) providing funds for safety services (Police and Fire Departments), general municipal operations, street improvements, capital improvements and transportation.
