ATHENS- Robert G. Dailey, age 87, of The Plains, formerly of Grand Park Blvd., Athens, died Saturday morning, Oct. 7, 2023 at The Lindley Inn, The Plains. Born Oct. 23, 1935 in Athens he was the son of the late Earl Dailey and Mabel Hawk Dailey.
A 1953 graduate of Athens High School, he retired from American Electric Power after many years of service. He was an active member of the former Athens Church of the Nazarene, where he participated in the church choir. He had been attending The Plains United Methodist Church. He enjoyed antique cars, walking, riding his bike, and working in his yard. He was a member of Jan’s Fans, Athens Senior Citizens and Albany Senior Citizens.
Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Newell Dailey; a son and daughter in law, Michael & Pam Dailey of The Plains; two grandchildren, Brad (Brandi) Hartley of Louisville, KY and Jill (Dan) Pittman of The Plains; two great grandchildren, Isla Hartley and Ezra Pittman; a sister-in-law, Shirley Dailey of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Keith Eugene Dailey; sister, Rose Chambers; a brother, Charles Dailey; a niece, Terri Chambers; and a nephew, Scott Dailey.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. David Roach officiating. Burial will be in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, Athens.
