Pete Clark, born in Athens, Ohio, on August 26, 1945, passed away peacefully at home in Albany, Ohio, on September 6, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the cherished only child of William Allan and Virginia Tewksbury Clark, who preceded him in death.
Pete is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Main Clark, and his loving daughters, Andrea Keefer (Kirk) and Amy Gaither (Tom). He was a proud grandfather to Jeffery Gogel (Lexi), Kaitlin VanHooser (Patrick), Josie Gogel, Jarrett Gaither, and Erin Gaither, and a delighted great-grandfather to Ellie Paige Gogel.
A retired Director of Utilities at Ohio University, Pete’s professional legacy also includes his past membership in Pipeliners Union 798. He was known as a true “renaissance man,” gifted in many trades, and admired for his remarkable versatility.
Pete’s love for Jesus and his family was unwavering, a passion he carried through all aspects of his life. He had a deep connection with animals, especially horses and dogs, and was known for his skill as a horseman. In his youth, Pete was also a professional motorcycle racer, a pursuit that highlighted his adventurous spirit.
Together with Linda, Pete explored the country on horseback and by motorcycle, making cherished memories on countless journeys. Their travels took them from southern Florida to Western Canada and even as far as Alaska. One of their favorite trips was visiting family in California in their trusty truck and camper.
Pete was a dedicated member of Christ Community Wesleyan Church, where he served as a Trustee and was actively involved in various committees. His commitment to serving others extended to his work as a volunteer driver for Friends of the Shelter Dogs, a role he took on with great joy for many years.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Buckeye Palliative and Hospice Care for the compassionate care they provided during Pete’s final days.
Services will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Community Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Josh Fakhoury officiating. Visitation is Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Shelter Dogs, P.O. Box 576, Athens Ohio 45701.
