GUYSVILLE — Rosemary Kayser, 93, of Guysville, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 28, 2023, at The Laurels of Athens. Born March 21, 1929, in The Garden community (Lodi Twp.), she was the daughter of the late Carnel F. Slusher and Catharine Burson Slusher.

A 1946 graduate of Shade High School, she was employed as a fiscal officer for Lodi Township for 30 years. She was a homemaker and assisted in the operation of the family farm. She also had a home sewing business and a special event cake business. She and her husband hosted family dinners, and for 50 years hosted Halloween and New Year’s Eve parties. She was a 77-year member of South Canaan Baptist Church, where she was Church Clerk and taught Sunday School.

Rosemary is survived by her husband of 75 years, Meade Kayser; her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Anne and Greg Gilders of Guysville; two grandchildren, Nathan and Yvonne Gilders of Guysville and Cate and Mike Young of Cary, NC; two great-grandchildren, Dodge Gilders and Eva Young; a sister, Connie (Rodney) Quivey of Burlingham; and 15 nieces and one nephew.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Meta and “Doc” Lawson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jenkins “Jenks” and Edna Slusher and Leslie (Wadedene) Slusher. Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, at South Canaan Baptist Church, 17506 S. Canaan Rd., Athens with Rev. Monte McCune officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call Friday 1 p.m. at the church until time of service. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
