Sandra Lee Hope

ALBANY- Sandra Lee Hope was born December 7, 1946 to William D. and Gertrude V. Lieuellen in Akron and passed away June 15, 2025 after an extended bout with cancer at her home with her family.

Sandra graduated from Albany High School in1964.  Sandra worked for General Telephone Company for several years as an operator and as a Frame Technician until 1979.  She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church in Albany, Ohio, where she taught Sunday school and Bible School.  From about 1981 thru 2011, she wore many hats in the Boys Scouts of America, starting as a Den Leader to Assistant Cub Master, Cub Master, Round Table Commissioner, cub scout leader and trainer, cub scout day camp at Camp Red Arrow as a Program Director. She also was an Assistant Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop 50 Albany, Ohio, of which both sons David and Robert are Eagle Scouts. 

On July 19, 1970 she married the love of her life Ronald A. Hope, this July would have been 55 years together.

She loved taking care of flowers around the house, sewing and making clothing from scratch, knitting baby blankets and other items for family and friends, she loved camping at various parks and the county fair.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, William and Gertrude Lieullen, her mother and father in law, Harry and Thelma Hope, brothers in law Clarence Owens and Rusty Bartlett, nephew Jeremy Bartlett and several Aunts and Uncles.

Sandra is survived by her husband Ronald A. Hope, two sons of which she loved and was so proud of, David Allen Hope (Sarena), Robert Lee Hope (Jessica), two sisters Jean Owens and Joan Bartlett, grandchildren William, Andrea, Troianne, James, Renlee and Anden, and five great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by brother in law Gerald Hope (Cheryl), nephews, Derek Hope and Rick Owens, nieces, Cris Hope, Kelly Goddard, Mindy France, and Danielle Segera.

Sandra also had special extended “children” who will always be cherished as a part of our family, Lucas Primel, Cherry Dixon, Jon Carpenter, Alan Tinkham, Jeroen Boensma, Madison and Macie Swart, and Kailey Cozort.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 21st at 10:00 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Harold Benson officiating.  Burial will be in W.
