SOUTHEAST OHIO — The Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program has funded construction of 11 new homes in local communities, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, SAOP Interim Director Madison Trace told the Independent.
Last Friday, Nov. 22, the project partners held dedication ceremonies for the first two of the newly constructed homes in Glouster and Langsville (Meigs County), presenting keys to the families who will live there.
Trace said in an email that the ceremonies represented “a significant milestone in providing safe, affordable housing.”
“Additional homes are planned for surrounding communities in 2025 and 2026,” she added. “In collaboration with the land bank and other community partners, we are actively acquiring properties for future development.”
The homes, built in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, are part of SAOP’s broader housing initiative, supported by the Appalachian Community Grant Program, which will create both affordable housing units sold on the market and homes for SAOP clients and their families.
