NELSONVILLE- Sheila Lee “Becky” Bridgewater, age 75, of Nelsonville died late Saturday afternoon, April 13, 2024 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains. Born Nov. 27, 1948 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur H. Ruth and Vera Douglas Ruth.
A graduate of Albany High School, she was employed as a home health care aide, an operator for General Telephone and as a receptionist for the Athens Medical Center. She enjoyed gaming on her tablet and especially her dogs.
Becky is survived by a son, Michael Bridgewater and his companion Carol Hicks of Nelsonville; two grandsons, Cory Bridgewater, and his wife, and Jesse Bridgewater both of Athens; three great grandchildren; and her former husband, Glen Bridgewater.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Bridgewater; three sisters, Leona Hunting, Letha Russell and JoAnn Conley; three brothers, Roy, Charles and Gene Ruth.
