Stephen Faires Alderman

GLOUSTER, Ohio –– Stephen Faires Alderman, 76 died Tuesday, February 20, 2025, at his residence in Glouster, Ohio. He was born January 2, 1948 to the late William and Jo Lavon Faires Alderman. 

Steve was a 1966 graduate of Glouster High School and a graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in education. He was a substitute teacher for Trimble Local and Southern Local (Miller) Schools before working and retiring from the CSX Railroad. Steve was an avid Trimble High School sports fan and a member of the Glouster Moose. He loved his cats and genuinely enjoyed people. 

He is survived by three sisters, Susan Bolyard of Pomeroy, Lindsay (Mark) Dreyfus of Crystal Lake, IL, and Leslie (Gary) Dolan of Glouster; a nephew, Jim (Janelle) Bendervich; two nieces, Gillian (Ben) Fortney and Shawn (Adam) Thompson; aunts, Patricia Faires and Jane Schoenian, both of Glouster; special cousins, L.R. and Eric Faires; and several other cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lester and Helen Faires; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Mary Zimmer Alderman; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Bolyard.

A cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. A message of condolence may be sent by visiting the tribute wall at www.morrisonfc.com.
