OU economics professor emeritus Richard Vedder spoke out in favor of the controversial Ohio state house bill that would require American history courses and prevent university staff and faculty from striking. Vedder said that outgoing OU president Hugh Sherman said OU doesn’t “need another history person” when he learned of Vedder’s post-retirement plans to teach a course on economic history. Vedder claimed that the pending bill would have “significantly reduced… the chances of that happening.” (Ohio Capital Journal)
