The Athens County Port Authority has announced a special meeting at noon on Friday, April 5, via Zoom.
The Athens County Board of Elections will conduct a post-election audit of the March 19 primary election beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, April 5, at the board office, 15 S. Court St., room 130, Athens.
The Ohio Auditor’s Office has released audits for the following entities:
- Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center, 2022–23 fiscal year, financial audit
All trails and recreation sites in the Athens Ranger District of the Wayne National Forest will reopen Friday, April 5.
The Bureau of Land Management seeks input on its supplemental environmental assessment evaluating possible impacts from potential oil and gas leasing within the Wayne National Forest. Last day for comments is May 6.
Road Work
- Hebbardsville Road (CR 19) will reopen around 10 a.m. today.
- Burr Oak Boulevard in Nelsonville is closed between East Canal Street and Chestnut Street until 5 p.m. Thursday, April 4. The roadway is being closed as part of a water line replacement project. This water line replacement project will result in additional Burr Oak Boulevard closures over the next two months. Additional closures will be announced as information becomes available. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.
- Work continues on a signal replacement and turn lane installation at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Washington Road in Albany. Estimated completion: May 1.
- Traffic on Herrold Avenue in Athens is one way from Davison Court to West Union Street. Two-way traffic is open from Davison Court to West State Street. Expected completion for this phase of the West Union Street project is July 2024, depending on weather and work conditions.
