Bids:
- The Village of Albany: New surplus property items have been listed; Albany continues to accept bids.
- Lodi cemeteries: Lodi Township Trustees is accepting bids for mowing ten cemeteries in September and October. Please submit to Lodi Township, 15525 Fossil Rock Road, Athens, OH 45701. Bids will be opened at a special trustee’s meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. Contact Kevin Gwinn with question 740-590-3212.

City of Athens
- Paving schedule: Paving of city streets began July 28; view the list on the city’s website. No on-street parking will be allowed during the work; closed areas will be posted 24 hours in advance. The schedule is subject to change for inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
- East State Street closure: Closed to west bound traffic from Stimson Avenue to Fern Street for roadway repair noon–4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5. There will be no thru traffic or emergency traffic.

Ohio Department of Transportation:
- SR 144 culvert replacement: Between Main Street and Four Mile Creek Road. The road is closed; detour U.S. 50 to SR 124 to SR 144. Estimated completion: Aug. 29.
- U.S. 33 and SR 682 roundabout: SR 682 ramp to U.S. 33 west is open. Work continues on roundabouts at the interchange. Traffic maintained by flaggers on SR 682. Right shoulder closed on U.S. 33 westbound. Estimated completion: Oct. 31.
- U.S. 50 RCUT: Intersection of U.S. 50 and Brimstone Road (CR 56) at Coolville. Lane closures are in place in both directions. Estimated completion: Oct. 31.
- U.S. 33 Athens-Meigs expansion: Motorists may encounter flaggers at the highway’s intersections with Pleasant Hill, Pleasanton and Rainbow Lake roads, as well as SR 681. Estimated completion: 2028.

Nelsonville:
- Sewer manhole replacement closures: Began Monday, Aug. 4 and will continue through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.
- Festival street closures: No parking and street closures begin noon Sunday, Aug. 10 through Aug. 17. Use an alternate route. Full list of street closures through link.
  - The ongoing Canal Street project will be on hold during this event.
- Canal Street project: Please avoid the following areas and use alternate routes.

Bus pass refunds: Those who purchased an annual or 120-day Athens Public Transit bus pass between April 1, 2024, and March 30, 2025, may be eligible for a partial refund. Details online; contact HAPCAP Mobility Coordinator Ben Ziff with questions. Apply by 4 p.m. Oct. 31.
No sales tax: Ohio’s sales tax holiday began Aug. 1 and lasts until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14. Restrictions and eligible items available through link.
Firefighters wanted: The City of Nelsonville Division of Fire is accepting applications to immediately fill open part-time positions and to build an eligibility list for future full-time and part-time hires. Information through link; applications due by Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Nelsonville city job openings: The City of Nelsonville is accepting letters of interest and resumes for the positions of city auditor and city treasurer. See details through links. Chauncey pool safety rules: The Village of Chauncey has posted a reminder to its residents about above-ground swimming pool code requirements, per its zoning code.

Sunset Shelter survey results: A public survey conducted between October 2024 and January 2025 regarding the Sunset Shelter Project received 471 responses, the toplines of which are available.
Restaurant closure: Casa Nueva Restaurant and Cantina is closed for annual renovations until 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8.
